Somehow, unbelievably, January is already quite a bit in the books. That’s how fast 2023 goes. We beat the first wave of fourth-quarter earnings reports from companies like Intel, IBM, Microsoft, Netflix, the banks, Visa and American Express; so far, nothing terrible. Some bad reactions but some genuinely good. It just adds to the existing confusion. They say the job of the stock market is to frustrate the maximum number of people at all times. Mission accomplished this year. And don’t look now, Bitcoin is up 40% YTD! What?!?
