NEXT Insurance, the small business focused insurtech, has announced the promotion of Rachel Jrade-Rice to general counsel.
Jrade-Rice joined NEXT in 2020 as insurance regulatory counsel and has since served as director of regulatory affairs and associate general counsel for regulatory affairs. In January, she was named interim general counsel.
“Rachel quickly rose through the ranks at NEXT, proving time and time again her ability to move the needle and impact innovative change for our small business clients,” said Teodora Gouneva, NEXT’s CFO. “She did an excellent job assuming the additional responsibilities of interim general counsel, and I am confident that Rachel’s extensive insurance and legal experience and her passion for leadership make her the right person for this role. I am looking forward to working with her in the coming years.”
Jrade-Rice has over a decade of legal experience and has administered multi-million dollar programs, according to NEXT. Prior to joining the company, he served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office and an Assistant Commissioner in the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
“I made the decision to join NEXT because I was inspired by its mission and its innovative and technological approach to insurance,” said Jrade-RIce. “NEXT puts small businesses at the center of everything it does, and being part of a mission-driven company was important to me. I have an amazing team and I feel privileged to work with them every day. I am honored to take on this role and continue to help small businesses thrive.”
Last month, NEXT Insurance announced the appointment of Jack Ramsey as Vice President of Agents. In March, the company launched a partnership with LegalZoom to help small business owners build and protect their businesses online.
