BlackRock said on Saturday it had no plans or interest in acquiring embattled Swiss lender Credit Suisse, a spokesman for the US asset manager told Reuters.
“BlackRock is not involved in any plan to acquire all or part of Credit Suisse, and has no interest in doing so,” the spokesperson said.
The Financial Times previously reported that BlackRock was working on a rival bid for Credit Suisse aimed at countering a plan by UBS AG to acquire the struggling bank.
The US investment giant is evaluating a number of options and working with other investors, according to the report, citing people briefed on the matter.
Reuters previously reported that Credit Suisse was weighing its survival options and was under pressure from regulators to seek a deal with UBS.
