Public sector Bank of Baroda has partnered with the Tamil Nadu government to offer a co-branded RuPay Platinum debit card in the state that offers tailored solutions, the bank said on Friday.

Bank of Baroda has launched the debit card that would be offered to beneficiaries of the state government’s ‘Pudhumai Penn’ scheme.

Accordingly, the card offers personal accident insurance coverage of up to ₹2 lakh per year and annual and enrollment fees have been waived for the first year.

The government’s ‘Pudhumai Penn’ scheme aims to improve the enrollment rate of girls from public schools to higher education institutions. Through this scheme, financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month would be provided to each girl until she completes her degree.

Tamil Nadu government special implementation department chief secretary T Udhayachandran along with Bank of Baroda general manager and zonal head A Saravanakumar launched the card in the presence of senior bank officials at an event here, according to the release.
