The message is clear, as is the juxtaposition: This is a government incapacitated by allegations of tax abuse, abuse and unethical conduct.
I know many deeply ethical people. Some of them are politicians. The question is, why is the Venn diagram containing the overlap between these two groups so small? And why do the Tories have such a problem with this?
Could it be that believing that the pursuit of personal wealth is the ultimate goal in life and the pursuit of power over others through obtaining political power are incompatible ends if the goal is a transparent, open, accountable, and honest government? ? Are conservatives ever running for office as a result of a basic flaw in their ethos, in other words?
